Excited for that daily commute back to the office? For most people, we don’t have a choice. But given a chance, will you brave traffic and COVID (yes, there’s still COVID) or work from home?
Online jobs or office-based jobs? What an obvious choice for most.
But is it really worth it? Can you really support a family in the long term and have a growing career working from home? Let’s look into the story of Apreel with her over years of experience with Remote Staff.
Interest in Remote Work
Apreel is your typical office worker. She was an Internet researcher in an IT company. Why transition?
“At some point, it did occur to me that the work I was doing at the office (which was like an hour’s commute from where I lived) was something that I can easily do from anywhere,” Apreel mentioned.
With most white-collar jobs, you can do most of the work anywhere. It can be a co-working space, a coffee shop, or even a beach. And with our experience during the pandemic, it proves that we can be productive working remotely.
Unless you really want to be in an office, why should there be restrictions where you work when you can still be productive anywhere or even at home? Apreel tried looking for jobs in her field and fortunately got hired in Remote Staff last August 2008.
Adjustments at the Beginning
Like what we’ve all experienced during the pandemic, it’s challenging to separate your work and your personal life in the same place. Apreel also experienced distractions. But these minor adjustments at first were quite insignificant for the reward she got. Of course, she also had some help.
“They [Remote Staff] did offer a lot of support and training to transition to remote work as smoothly as possible,” Apreel exclaimed.
There was training, productivity tools, and Lead Account Officers for work relationship support. Yes, it was difficult. But there was support every single step of the way.
The real question is, was it worth it?
Long Term Financial and Career Growth
Remote work is quite promising. But can it really sustain and elevate your family’s lifestyle? Is their career growth?
“I’ve been very fortunate that the first client that I was assigned to when I first started is still the client that I work for today. So I have been working for Ben for 11 years,” Apreel said with a smile on her face.
Starting as a Website Publishing Coordinator, she was trained by her client to be an Investment Analyst.
“They’ve really accepted me as an extended member of their team. They’ve given me training consistently over the last 11 years and it has allowed me to really grow and to transition to other roles in the company,” Apreel narrated as she was part of her client’s success for every business venture.
It goes to show that there’s long-term stability and career growth even if you work from home.
If you’re the right person partnered with a veteran company like Remote Staff, you can experience long term success in the comforts of your home.
