All aspects of our professional and personal lives have been reshaped by COVID-19. This includes how we hire and are hired, with many of the new practices but by no means all, here to stay.
While some industries are being decimated by the pandemic, like brick and mortar retailers, others are ramping up hiring to meet demand. BPO companies may be the largest sectors looking to increase staffing levels to meet the increasing client demands.
For TDCX, hailed as one of the best employer brands in the Philippines, virtual recruitment is a go-to method to keep hiring processes moving while protecting recruiters and candidates.
The online hiring process is now the best practice with everybody going online and given the challenges nowadays in face-to-face meetings and interactions. It not only made it possible to keep the hiring pipeline moving, but it also helped TDCX upgrade the candidate experience and put safety protocols in place for the benefit of both the jobseeker and the employer.
Moreover, when hiring is no longer constricted by geography, it’s easier for companies to attract talent from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds.
According to TDCX Philippines People Director Vanessa Maningas, they continue to innovate for a more progressive recruitment journey despite the challenges of times. “The reason we continue to improve our hiring process by enhancing our tools and innovating ways is so that we can promote positive remote recruitment journey for our applicants,” she said.
Online recruitment in the new normal
TDCX has been using its proprietary digital hiring solution called Flash Hire for its online recruitment since March 2020. The BPO company is very keen to continue the virtual hiring process even during the new normal.
By leveraging on digital solutions, TDCX Philippines was able to reach potential candidates from the farther north and south areas who they can’t previously tap. Through the online platform, the recruitment team can schedule many candidates versus the limitations given during onsite processing. Their HR team also receives more leads versus onsite processing because almost everyone is relying on online platforms to connect and move. Since its launch last year, TDCX was able to employ thousands of individuals.
Getting hired in the time of pandemic
Among the successful applicants from the online hiring process are Bryan Andrew Lacanienta and Krizzia Anne Ramos who both affirmed and lauded the efficiency, reliability, and uniqueness of TDCX’s online recruitment process.
For Lacanienta, a newly hired Multimedia Specialist, it was quite a challenge to look for work opportunities online especially now that everyone’s looking urgently for a job. “TDCX gave me a unique experience when it came to the hiring process, giving me a detailed examination of the company and myself. It was also one of the important aspects of the experience that made me comfortable and convenient to answer the examination online,” he said.
According to Ramos who’s living in the province, TDCX was able to make the employment smooth, efficient, and fast with its online recruitment process. She also prefers it as she wouldn’t need to travel to Manila. “I prefer online hiring and it’s more efficient. Personally, I feel less nervous and more confident during interviews.”
Lacanienta and Ramos also shared how user-friendly and easy to use Flash Hire is. “Flash Hire is so easy to navigate and will give you all of the necessary instructions as if you’re being guided in person. It also gives you updates on where your application is currently at,” Ramos said. “Flash Hire was smart and comfortable to use with its graphics and convenient way to answer. It was one of the most unique hiring processes I have ever experienced,” Lacanienta added.
The virtual hiring process has been rewarding for TDCX and its prospective candidates, providing another channel to accommodate and give opportunities for individuals seeking a career with TDCX.
Furthermore, the BPO company’s Talent Acquisition team is planning to have a hybrid setup in recruitment wherein candidates will still be interviewed and processed online while some will go onsite. In exploring both avenues, TDCX is putting its best effort into maximizing different ways to make recruitment easy, reliable, and efficient for all.
