Animal Crossing New Horizons is one of the top games that are being played in Nintendo Switch during this lockdown. According to New York Times, ACNH lifted Nintendos profit to $1 Billion and a staggering 541% increase in quarterly profit from the previous year.
I can compare this game with SIMS (for pc gamers), basically, you will have your own paradise, you will explore, create, and customize your island, your house, housewares, and even your clothing. You will interact with your villagers, they are the “animal crossing”, and they have different characteristics which makes the game more interesting. You can hunt down insects at the crack of dawn, decorate your paradise throughout the day, or enjoy sunset on the beach while fishing in the ocean. The time of day and season match real life, so each day on your island is a chance to check in and find new surprises all year round.
Amid this pandemic, ACNH became my sanctuary, it became my ultimate lockdown companion. In ACNH, there’s no pandemic, no stress, and you get to play God – you can control how everything goes in the game. The things that I can’t do during this lockdown like traveling and meeting with friends, I can do in the game. It has become an escape to a perfect world.
Let me also highlight the community of players, they are really kind. Most of the players are girls, specifically mothers, as I have observed in facebook groups and apps, they usually share the game with their kids, this can be the reason for the kind community of players.
The game has become an escape from the darkness of the real world. It gives you a sense of normalcy and an assurance that tomorrow is another day full of surprises, gifts, and positive vibes. Without this game, I would have really struggled to get through feelings of isolation. I’m very happy I bought it. It’s one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. So if you are hesitating or contemplating to purchase a switch or this game, this is the sign to buy it!
